Canyon Walks

Michael and I have started going for walks up the canyon in the morning, and we've been taking the dog.  We took some pictures while we were up there this morning.  It's so gorgeous up there!

Gotta love nature!  I'm so glad we started doing this.  The walking will be good for all of us, including the dog.

Memorial Day

When Sherri was done doing her puppies she set me aside a bucket of flowers and foliage and left it in the cooler for me.  Michael and I went in this morning and this is what I made from what she left.

No assistance at all!  And as we were leaving the greenhouse one of the customers stopped us and asked where I had gotten the beautiful bouquets.  I told her I had made them and she told me again that they were beautiful and that our idea to put them on graves was marvelous.  :)  I'm pretty proud of them myself.

Puppy!

For memorial day, Sherri (the floral design lady who is teaching me) and her daughter came into the greenhouse to make some "puppies".  Curious as to how one would make a puppy out of flowers I went over to investigate.  After sneaking peeks as I finished up my shift, Sherri's daughter offered to teach me how to make one.  She handed me a colorful bucket, 4 stalks of foliage and 13 carnations.  Voila!

My second floral design, although not of my own making.  Well, I made it but I didn't design it.  Isn't it adorable?  It's impressive how many different things you can make out of a few flowers and some creativity.

White Rock

So every first weekend of May, my family goes camping. We go to the same area, a place called White Rock. It's located in the Tooele area, out in the desert. Yes, we willingly go out into the desert for the weekend.
If we can we try to leave thursday, but due to work problems me and and Lisa were unable to make it out of town until Friday. We left early in the morning, using the mix tapes that Lisa awesomely made for when we lost reception to our ipod... thingie...
The first day we were there was amazing. It was beautiful, warm and nearly perfect. Lisa got to ride the four wheelers, the nephews got to play in the dirt and we had tinfoil dinners
The second day...it got windy... and by windy I mean we had to take down all the tents to keep them from breaking apart. Because of the wind, we had to spend most of the time in the trailers. However the wind didn't keep Lisa from going on rides! She even took the boys with her.
But because we didn't have tents we had to sleep in the trailer... on a pull out bed that was not very comfortable.
Sadly the wind didn't stop the next day, so we ended up going home a bit earlier then we may have liked. The trip was a very good vacation for both of us all in all. We got to see the family, get away from everything and just relax. We'll definately be going again next year.

My nephew Steven, heading to the dirt pile.

Here's my nephew Sammy playing in the dirt.

Me and my brother, showing our excitment for Martha Stewart's craft book

Here's Lisa, just outside my parents trailer.

Our dog Sedric, he had a great time!

Florals

Utah State University does not offer a floral design program, but the lady who does the floral designs for the different departments does her arranging at the greenhouse where I work.  The other day I asked her if I could apprentice with her, and she has been letting me help her make her arrangements.  She even taught me somethings about making my own, and gave me the flowers to do so.  Here is the finished product:

My very first floral design, made entirely by my own hand.  I'm extremely excited.

Golden Oldies

Michael and I have been trying to find a turntable for months now, and we finally got one.  Here it is, along with some of the records we have.

This one has the stories of 'The Little Match Girl', 'The Elves and the Shoemaker', 'The Fir Tree', and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'.  Perfect for a snowy December evening.

Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.  How could it get any better than this?

This one is 'A Night On Bald Mountain'.  It's the entire piece.

You're jealous, and you know it.

These ones are ours, but we've borrowed my parents collection and have really been enjoying listening to the music in the mornings and in the evenings.  Vinyl is the way to go!
